Angela Evelyn Bassett (born April 15th in 1961) was an American actor. Her name has been praised for her film and TV work since the 1980s. Her accolades comprise two Golden Globe Awards, sixteen NAACP Image Awards as well as nominations for Academy Awards and Primetime Emmy Awards. Bassett was raised in New York New York and fostered by an aunt who lived in Winston-Salem North Carolina. Her mother split with her father when she was approximately five. She and her younger sister then moved to St. Petersburg Florida with their mother. Bassett was in high school when she was able to see James Earl Jones staring John Steinbeck production Of Mice and Men and realized that her desire of becoming an actor had been realized. Yale University New Haven Connecticut granted her a bachelor's degree (1980) which was in African American study, and an advanced degree (1983), from the Yale School of Drama. She dated Courtney B. Vance, a fellow actress at Yale and they married in 1997. Qualification: B.A. Master of Arts (Afro-American study) in the year 1980. A Master of Fine Arts (Drama) from Yale School of Drama School.
